THE OFFICIALLY UNOFFICIAL LIST OF HOUSTON BREWERIES

These are all 65 of the active breweries that represent the Greater Houston Area and a few that don’t, but they hope to soon. If you’re unsure of anything – hours, food, etc., please call first. You can also view them in map form here.

Houston’s big – REAL BIG. If you’re from out of town looking to brewery hop, you’ll realize just how big. As the largest city in the US (geographically) there’s a lot of ground to cover, and this list even extends a bit beyond Houston.

We’ll continue to visit each and every brewery below to find out a bit more about their history, what makes them unique and what sort of beers they offer. We’ll document it here. If you know something we don’t, hit us up on IGFacebook, or shoot us an email here.

We’ll also be writing reviews of their beers and our experience at the brewery. Beers to you, Houston!

Head brewer and owner, Robert Frye, began home brewing over a decade ago as a means to get to know his future brother-in-law (also one of our owners). The rabbit hole was deep and a hobby quickly became a passion. From weekend brewing sessions in the driveway, neighborhood tastings, and regional brewing competitions, he decided to pursue opening a small brewery and taproom. Brewing beer is a passion that is intimately linked to creating new friendships and fortifying a sense of community. The purpose of Elder Son is to create a neighborhood “watering hole” that can be a personal and inviting taproom. You’ll see our owners Robert & Melanie, Chris & Terri, Mike & Evelyn, Randall & Elizabeth, and Bryan & Bri at the brewery often. Give a “hello” and hang out!
